Welcome to my studio!
Hello! I’m Cathy Lynn
and my creative compositions
are bold representations
of the world around us.
Sometimes sweet and lovely,
often grungy and gritty,
always intriguing and
full of texture.
Take a look!
A piece currently on my work table is this vase of flowers created with painted paper, vintage book pages, and lots of thread and fibers for the centers. It will be mounted on a vintage book cover.
Work in Progress
Spending time in my studio is one of my great joys. Experimenting with new materials or techniques, trying to get a feel for a new process, or just plain creating anything makes the time fly by and really gets my thoughts going. Often when I stop “making” for the day is when the thinking begins. All night I’ll be rolling ideas around in my head and when I start the next day I have more things to try than I can possibly accomplish!
Another work in progress is a mountain landscape with fiber clouds which I’ll mount on an antique blue shabby painted cabinet board. For this piece, I tried stitching fibers onto wash-away fabric and overlapping pieces after the fabric dissolved off. FUN!
Questions I am often asked:
-
You name it, I’ve probably either used it or have it in my studio waiting for just the right project or inspiration.
-
Sometimes I see something in real life, either natural or man-made and it spurs an idea. Other times I have a material of some sort and I wonder what I can do with it. I start playing and anything can happen!

The desert can be harsh, yet stunningly beautiful.
